A tiny field of dreams
Tiny Eyebeam isn't exactly a spectacularly large idea really, it's simply a coming to terms with certain economic realities, the solution to the majority of which we've found is to just scale back. We tend to think of it as the field of dreams of residency programs, except, in NYC it's not just about building but finding space. But, if you're curious about the nitty gritty of it, it is a foundation devoted to supporting small scale creative acts, even against a backdrop of dreary projections and failing forecasts.

Our economic model is really niche, or rather, we're in the market of finding nooks and crannies. Specifically, we exist inside supporting structures. See if you can guess where we are now!

Tiny Residencies
Tiny Eyebeam is LARGELY a project about scale. We live in a very special time, one of both digital prosperity and economic crisis. However, we at tiny eyebeam whole-heartedly believe that while the mechanics of economic destabilization are indicative of a forthcoming conservative marketplace, they also in turn provide the means necessary for truly LARGE ideas.

In order to successfully navigate these uncertain times Tiny Eyebeam intends to address the notion of a risky venture on a smaller budget, and a shorter timescale than that of its predecessor. In fact, where possible, Tiny Eyebeam exists at the scale of 1/100th that of regular EYEBEAM.

Prospective residents apply with a direct message to tiny eyebeam's twitter account , from July 13th to July 27th. Applicants will be chosen in 1/100th the time, at the end of which they will be given 2 days (1/100th the regular EYEBEAM residency length) and $50 with which to complete their respective project(s).

At the end of which we hope to have challenged, by and large, what it means to have a contemporary institution in the service of grand ideas at a time where there is clearly an exaggerated awareness of failure.

This sounds amazing, how can I support it?
Our residencies are so small that ONE person can fund them. With $50. There's no administrative overhead, just pay us, we fund projects with it. We've become a project under Digital Democracy, a non-profit, to take the money so that you can still write off donations on your taxes!

Digital Democracy is a non-profit organization focused on empowering civic engagement with digital technologies and programs that promote education, communication and participation.

For a limited time you can own your own tiny institution building block. Become a tiny patron of the arts and we'll send you a tiny eyebeam building block.
